I grew up on the Sunshine Coast and studied Outdoor Recreation Management at Capilano University. Kayaking and swimming by the water are my favorite outdoor activities. I have a wide range of work experience, but instructing is what I enjoy the most. Seeing people overcome their doubts and fears to improve is one of the main reasons I love instructing. In addition, I am scuba certified and have been instructing karate at my hometown’s local Dojo in Roberts Creek. I have been teaching swimming lessons, first aid, and introductory lifeguard courses for the past seven years. My teaching experience extends to a diverse range of students, from adults to toddlers. Additionally, I have taught adapted programs through the YMCA summer camp and swimming lessons. Furthermore, I am vaccinated.

Flexible and adaptable
Lazar has been helping my twins learn to swim. Both have different abilities and he is able to adapt his instruction to their different strengths and areas of improvement.

Perfect instructor for my son
My son is very difficult to teach because he likes to talk a lot & procrastinate. Lazar has been the only instructor that’s been able to nip that in the bud right away & consistently get my son swimming 50-55 min out of a 60 minute swim session. We are super happy with his teaching methods and will continue to hire him in the future.

Where I Teach

Located in the heart of Richmond, this warm hidden gem pool is perfect for both absolute beginners and those looking to build intermediate skills. The shallow side has stairs which are perfect to help toddlers and children adjust to the water one step at a time. Because this pool ranges from 4 to 10 feet deep, adults can also learn everything here – from beginner floats to treading deep water. We recently added a shower so you can take a quick rinse at the beginning and end of your lesson!
