About Selina L.
I love being in the water. Growing up going to the beach often, I was taught the importance of water safety from a young age. I love swimming and wanted to share that joy with others so lifeguard and started teaching swimming lessons. I've been teaching swimming lessons for 3 years and coaching rugby for 5.
Teaching philosophy
I enjoy helping students grow in a supportive, encouraging environment. I love creating a learning environment centered around the student where they get to learn at their own pace without judgement. Learning happens when you make mistakes and correct them, so I encourage students to make mistakes and just keep trying.

A typical first lesson
We will start by talking about what skills you are wanting to focus on and how you prefer to structure the class. I then will asses where you are at with those skills and provide feedback along with some drills to practice. We will move at your pace to increase the difficulty and integrate the piece we were working on into the rest of the swim.
Where I teach
Port Moody
Located in the heart of Port Moody, just moments from the skytrain with ample street parking is a warm, family friendly pool perfect for children learning to swim and adults looking to advance their skills. The shallow side has a ladder for entry and is great for young children and beginning swimmers at 3 feet deep. A subtle slope leading to the deepest part of the pool at 8 feet is great to practice more advanced skills. With a brand new heater installed, the pool is kept at 86F (30C) perfect for those just learning to swim. We have a newly renovated bathroom right off the pool deck and pool deck changing pods for those who want to change quick before and after lessons. Shower available upon request.
