How it works
1. Profile set up
Our team sets up your pool profile and the access instructions your approved instructors receive.
2. Get booked
Instructors start booking your pool, and you get a notification the day before each lesson.
3. Host lessons
Each instructor will meet their clients at a designated waiting spot and then chaperone them safely through their entire lesson.
Common questions
Is this the same as renting out my pool by the hour?+
No. Propel books private swim lessons, one instructor with one client, at a scheduled time. It is not an hourly pool rental, so there are no groups, no parties, and no events in your backyard.
How much can I earn hosting swim lessons in my pool?+
You set the amount you earn per lesson and choose which hours your pool is available, so earnings scale with how often you open it. You receive one payment each month covering every lesson taught, with no fees deducted from it.
Who teaches in my pool, and how are they vetted?+
Each instructor is a certified professional who sets their own schedule and price. Each one provides proof of certification and passes a criminal background check before teaching. They are also experienced, averaging more than eight years of teaching, because senior instructors come to Propel to earn more and manage themselves rather than work a swim school schedule.
What happens if someone is injured during a lesson?+
Every lesson booked through Propel is covered by a $10 million policy that covers you, your property, and the instructor. A certificate is available for your insurer or broker to review.
What's the impact on the neighbourhood?+
A positive one. Public pools are still running at reduced capacity, so families struggle to find learn-to-swim spots and instructors struggle to find water. Hosting brings both together on your street. It is also far quieter than a pool party platform. One instructor and one client arrive at a scheduled time, teach, and leave.
Can I choose which hours my pool is available?+
Yes. You set your pool use rules and the hours you want to offer, and you can change them at any time. Some hosts open a few hours each weekend, others open anytime the pool is idle.
Do I get anything besides the income?+
Yes. You and your family book lessons at-cost, and so do your friends and neighbours. And because you earn on every lesson, comping some for your family barely touches the revenue it came from.
