This is our first lesson as adults. We are glad Katherine was the instructor. She knew how to make us comfortable in the way. Her step by step instructions were clear and effective. We felt we made good progress already. Too bad she is relocating. Hope our next instructor is as good as her. Thanks Katherine.

Katherine differentiated a lesson based on each child's swim level. She is warm, patient, upbeat, and precise in demonstrating and giving instruction. We saw so much progress in such a short lesson, and the kids had fun and are looking forward to learning more! Katherine is everything you want in an instructor. Best wishes in your new city, Katherine. We selfishly wish we had you here in Toronto for more lessons!

About Katherine L.

Hi, I'm Katherine! I've been instructing with Propel since 2018, bringing 10 years of combined teaching experience. I have also volunteered with the Disabled Sailing Association of Ontario for 4 years. Outside of swimming, I have my Master of Education and currently work in the field of higher education. My specialties include working with children with disabilities and AquaFit. I love helping kids feel more confident in the water while making sure it's the highlight of their day. Every child learns swimming in a different manner so I tailor each lesson to individual learning styles and swimming goals. I always try to find the right balance between swimming technique, endurance, and fun in my lessons! I have also taught many adult swimmers ranging in swimming ability. From those who have never had a swimming lesson in their life to those who are perfecting their swim technique, I make sure to communicate with my swimmers to know what their goals are and set up a realistic timeframe to achieve them. I have helped many beginner adult swimmers start their journey in swimming and for some, overcome their fear of the water; I ensure you feel 100% safe in the water while challenging you bit by bit out of your comfort zone to get you feeling confident in the water. For intermediate and more advanced swimmers, I love focusing on technique and getting your strokes as efficient as possible. Additionally, I have helped swimmers train for fitness tests and triathlons (I've completed a triathlon before as well). Throughout my teaching career, I have taught well over 700 students of different ages and abilities. Personally, I have also been swimming from a very young age and later swam competitively. If you are looking for someone to teach swimming with an emphasis on proper stroke technique, you know where to find me! I look forward to meeting you all! If you've made it down here, thank you for reading :) Last updated: June 1st, 2026
