My daughter was terrified of swimming but now loves swimming with Stephanie! From refusing to get her eyes wet to gliding on her front in such a short period of time is wonderful

Stephanie has been amazing with both of my daughters! She’s patient, encouraging, and they’ve already learned so much from their lessons with her. We’ve had such a great experience so far and would highly recommend her!

I can wholeheartedly recommend Stephanie as a swimming instructor! We first tried group swimming lessons, but unfortunately, they did not work well for our 5-year-old daughter. From the very first moment she met Stephanie, everything changed. Our daughter saw her and immediately felt comfortable enough to get into the water — something we honestly did not expect. Stephanie has a wonderful calm and reassuring presence. She makes children feel safe while also making every lesson fun, engaging, and enjoyable. She is a warm, open, and patient person who has a fantastic way of connecting with children. Our daughter absolutely loves her swimming lessons and is already asking when she can see Stephanie again. She can’t wait for her next lesson! Thank you so much, Stephanie, for your amazing work. We feel incredibly lucky to have found you and would highly recommend you to any family looking for a caring and supportive swimming instructor.

About Stephanie H.

I began my aquatic career with the City of Calgary in 2005 & have spent more than 21 years teaching swimmers of all ages and abilities. Whether I’m working with toddlers taking their first steps in the water, adults overcoming fears, or competitive swimmers refining technique, my goal is to create a safe, supportive, and enjoyable environment

Teaching philosophy

My teaching style focuses on patience, encouragement, and helping swimmers build confidence at their own pace. Whether you’re learning the basics, improving technique, or overcoming fear in the water, I create a calm and positive environment where every swimmer feels supported and safe.

A typical first lesson

We’ll start by discussing your goals and comfort level in the water. Then, we’ll work on breathing, floating, and basic swimming skills at a pace that feels comfortable. By the end of the lesson, you’ll have a clear understanding of your strengths and the next steps in your progress.
