University student, former provincial-level competitive swimmer, and City of Surrey lifeguard helping swimmers build confidence and skills.
My swimming journey started with lessons, just like many of my students. I then spent time swimming recreationally before joining a competitive swim club through my teens, where I trained and competed at the provincial level. That passion for the water led me to lifeguarding and swim instruction, where I now help others build confidence and skills.
My competitive swim background gave me strong technical skills, patience, and a commitment to growth that I bring into every lesson. I focus on creating a calm, safe, and encouraging environment where swimmers of all abilities feel comfortable trying new skills, building confidence, improving technique, and developing lifelong water safety skills.
Your first lesson begins with an assessment to understand your current skills, comfort level, and goals. Together we’ll create a personalized plan, including what to focus on, an estimated lesson timeline, and strategies to build confidence in a safe, encouraging environment where trying new skills feels fun and supported. ➡Follow @SwimCoachMaiya
