We’ve had a wonderful experience with Selma as our 8-year-old son’s swimming instructor at Propel through Langley Pool. Selma is incredibly patient, encouraging, and skilled at working with kids. She has helped our son build both confidence and technique in the water, especially with front crawl breathing, arm movement, and kicking. What stands out most is her ability to make lessons enjoyable while still focusing on progress. Our son always looks forward to his classes, which says a lot! We’re very grateful for her dedication and the positive impact she’s had on his swimming journey. Highly recommend Selma to any parent looking for a caring and effective swim instructor!

We used to do group swimming lessons through the rec centre and my daughter had anxiety going. She did SO much more with one session with Selma than she has in all the years of group lessons. Selma is great dealing with kids and we’ve been seeing her on a regular basis for the past couple months.

My son has now developed a confidence around being in the water thanks to Salma. He would not even go in the pool the first few lessons. She has developed a trusting relationship and shows extreme understanding and patience without pressure. I would highly recommend Selma for beginner swim lessons.

About Selma T.

I've been teaching swimming lessons for three years at both public and private pools. My favourite part is helping students build confidence and feel comfortable in the water.

Teaching philosophy

I take the time to understand each student's learning style and adapt my lessons to help them overcome challenges. I believe swimming is not just a sport but a vital life skill. Whether your child is new to swimming or working on water safety skills, I'm here to support and encourage them every step of the way.

A typical first lesson

We'll start with identifying your goals for the lesson and then get into the water! I spend the first half of the class going over what you know from previous experience - or introducing brand new students to the water. The second half is spent working on those goals we set at the beginning.
