We had our first swim lesson today with both of my kids, and it was a great experience! Maria was patient, friendly, and made my children feel comfortable in the water right away. The lesson was well organized, engaging, and age-appropriate for my 4 and 2 year old! My kids had so much fun and my daughter already looking forward to the next class. We’re excited to continue our lessons and highly recommend her!

Maria was a wonderful instructor. Patient with both my kids ages 4 and 8. She also pushed them to try new things which I greatly appreciated.

Maria was fantastic with our son, he made more progress in one session with her than anyone else. She made it fun and engaging and he can’t wait to go back for another lesson with her!

About Maria B.

I'm a mom of two, a lifelong water lover, and I've been teaching swimming since 2010. Over the past 16 years, I've helped hundreds of children take their first kicks, conquer their fears, and celebrate their swimming successes. My specialty is working with toddlers and young children. I also teach parents and adults to swim as well!

Teaching philosophy

I bring patience, enthusiasm, and a playful approach that helps little swimmers feel safe while building strong water skills. I understand both the instructor perspective and the parent perspective, which allows me to create lessons that are fun, effective, and tailored to each child.

A typical first lesson

Every swimmer learns at their own pace. We'll work side by side on breath work, bubbles, floating, kicking, movement, and water confidence using fun activities and games. My goal is to create a safe, encouraging environment where every swimmer can succeed and enjoy the water.

Where I teach

Maple Ridge East

30-31°C · 33ft long · 4ft to 9ft deep

A sunlit indoor pool with large windows on all sides, making the space feel open and easy to be in. The gradual stair entry works well for young kids or anyone just getting comfortable in the water, and the pool is spacious enough that multiple swimmers never feel crowded.Depth reaches 9 feet, so instructors can work on deep-water skills like treading water and building real confidence away from the wall. Clean, private, and well-maintained, it's a solid spot whether it's a first lesson or a more advanced session.

Pool access details are provided after you book.
