Patient, fun, and experienced swim instructor helping swimmers build confidence and learn to swim effectively.

About Katie H.

I’ve been teaching swim lessons since 2016 and leadership and first aid courses since 2018. As a certified lifeguard, water safety has always been important to me. I love seeing swimmers grow in confidence and realize that swimming isn’t as scary as they once thought.

Teaching philosophy

I’m patient, calm, encouraging, and adaptable, and I never believe in rushing a swimmer. I focus on building comfort and confidence while explaining why we’re working on each skill. I enjoy making lessons fun while using my experience to spot areas for improvement and help swimmers progress toward their goals.

A typical first lesson

Before the first lesson, we’ll discuss your goals and expectations, keeping in mind that everyone progresses differently. I’ll gauge your comfort in the water and assess your current skills. From there, we’ll create a path toward your goals while having fun and showing you that swimming can be enjoyable!

Where I teach

Sandman Signature Mississauga Hotel

30-31°C · 40ft long · 3ft to 4ft deep

This bright saltwater pool in Mississauga’s Dixie area offers the ideal setup for swim lessons. With a shallow stairway entry that helps beginners ease into the water and a longer length than most pools for practicing distance, this pool supports swimmers at every stage. Natural light fills the space, creating a calm, open atmosphere, and the hot tub adds comfort for students winding down and receiving feedback at the end of their session.

Pool access details are provided after you book.
