Hi! I love teaching in general & aquatics specifically. My goal is to help people having difficulty, whether neurodivergent or triathlon. 🐠
Teaching has been the focus of my life for 29+ years, including 14 years in aquatics. Along the way I've worked as an Education Assistant, tutor, Behavioural Interventionist, autism support worker, lifeguard/instructor, and youth triathlon coach. I love figuring out how each person learns best and watching timid swimmers become confident swimmers.
I'm often described as a patient, playful & personable. My core value is helping learners feel safe first, so learning new skills can follow. I love working with neurodivergent swimmers, anxious swimmers, first-time triathletes developing open-water confidence & safety skills. I'll teach you how to go from "human brain" to "fish brain".
We'll start by discussing your goals, previous experience, fears, limitations, and any sensory or learning needs. I'll assess your current skills, then build a solid foundation before moving on. Lots of fun & games ~ pirates? Sharks? Superheroes? Explanation of the vestibular system & hydrodynamics? Let me know what you're into!
Located in the heart of Port Moody, just moments from the skytrain with ample street parking is a warm, family friendly pool perfect for children learning to swim and adults looking to advance their skills. The shallow side has a ladder for entry and is great for young children and beginning swimmers at 3 feet deep. A subtle slope leading to the deepest part of the pool at 8 feet is great to practice more advanced skills. With a brand new heater installed, the pool is kept at 86F (30C) perfect for those just learning to swim. We have a newly renovated bathroom right off the pool deck and pool deck changing pods for those who want to change quick before and after lessons. Shower available upon request.
Pool access details are provided after you book.
