Maiya is great, she has gotten Owen so far in his swimming and way more confident in the water. He has mild cerebral palsy and is a pretty typical boy. She manages to stay VERY calm with him and somehow keep him on track and listening to her. She keeps the lessons fun and also very productive. We love our lessons with Maiya!

My boys absolutely love Maiya! My 9 and 11 yo boys always look forward to their swimming lessons with Maiya. She is very professional, knowledgeable, compassionate, and amazing with kids especially with my 9 yo ASD nonverbal. She makes the kids feel comfortable in the water and makes the lessons enjoyable for them. My kids enjoy the lesson so much that they don’t ever want to leave sometimes 😄. If you are thinking of booking with Maiya, just do it! I guarantee that you will not regret it.

Maiya is an excellent teacher. She was patient and encouraging. She demonstrated the skills being taught and used games to energize and teach my daughter. Highly recommended.

About Maiya M.

My swimming journey started with lessons, just like many of my students. I then spent time swimming recreationally before joining a competitive swim club through my teens, where I trained and competed at the provincial level. That passion for the water led me to lifeguarding and swim instruction, where I now help others build confidence and skills.

Teaching philosophy

My competitive swim background gave me strong technical skills, patience, and a commitment to growth that I bring into every lesson. I focus on creating a calm, safe, and encouraging environment where swimmers of all abilities feel comfortable trying new skills, building confidence, improving technique, and developing lifelong water safety skills.

Where I teach

Surrey Panorama Ridge

30-31°C · 45ft long · 3ft to 10ft deep

A hidden neighborhood retreat, this bright indoor pool feels like a mini getaway. Sunlight pours through the large panel doors along one end, lighting up the sparkling blue water while giving swimmers a fun peek at the outdoors. The pool's gentle stair entry is perfect for toddlers easing into the water, and the gradual depth and long length allow everyone from beginners to confident swimmers to practice at their own pace. Just steps away, a newly renovated restroom, shower, and changing room make getting ready easy for parents juggling towels and goggles. Warm lighting, fresh facilities, and a welcoming atmosphere come together to create a safe, cheerful space where families and individuals can build skills, confidence, and happy memories in the water.

Pool access details are provided after you book.
