Hi! My name is Teyah, and I am a passionate swim instructor with over seven years of experience as a lifeguard and swim instructor with the City of Surrey. Throughout my career, I have taught swimmers of all ages and abilities, helping children, teens, and adults build confidence, develop strong swimming skills, and learn essential water safety techniques. I hold an undergraduate degree in Kinesiology and am currently a medical student, which has further strengthened my understanding of human movement, learning, development, and individual health needs. Over the years, many families have approached me seeking private lessons, which inspired me to join Propel and provide more personalized instruction tailored to each swimmer's goals. My teaching style is energetic, creative, patient, and supportive. I recognize that every swimmer learns differently and comes with their own comfort level, learning style, behavioural needs, and physical abilities. I strive to create lessons that are engaging, adaptable, and individualized so that each student can progress at their own pace while feeling successful, encouraged, and confident in the water. What I love most about teaching is being part of someone's journey and witnessing their growth over time. Whether a swimmer is overcoming a fear of the water, mastering a new skill, or working toward advanced goals, there is nothing more rewarding than seeing their confidence and abilities improve. My goal is to help every student feel safe, comfortable, and empowered in the water while making lessons fun and enjoyable. I believe swimming is not only an essential life skill but also an opportunity to build confidence, resilience, and a lifelong love of being active in and around the water.
A hidden neighborhood retreat, this bright indoor pool feels like a mini getaway. Sunlight pours through the large panel doors along one end, lighting up the sparkling blue water while giving swimmers a fun peek at the outdoors. The pool's gentle stair entry is perfect for toddlers easing into the water, and the gradual depth and long length allow everyone from beginners to confident swimmers to practice at their own pace. Just steps away, a newly renovated restroom, shower, and changing room make getting ready easy for parents juggling towels and goggles. Warm lighting, fresh facilities, and a welcoming atmosphere come together to create a safe, cheerful space where families and individuals can build skills, confidence, and happy memories in the water.
