Kate has been absolutely incredible with our 5 year old. She is patient, calm, and genuinely caring. He truly loves his lessons with her and looks forward to every session. His confidence in the water has grown tremendously, and his skills have improved so much under her guidance. She strikes the perfect balance between structure and encouragement, keeping him focused while making learning fun. What truly sets her apart is her warmth. She has a natural ability to make children feel safe, supported, and understood. Her kindness and respect are matched by genuine care, and it shows in the way she connects with him. She feels more like family than just an instructor, and we are incredibly grateful to have her in his life.

I've been taking lessons for several months now, and it has been so incredibly helpful for my confidence in the pool and during lane swims. I actually had lessons as a kid, but I’d forgotten almost everything; she really helped me bring those skills back while quickly getting me set up with the right form for my front crawl. She is so careful with her guidance and also genuinely lovely and friendly to work with. I really like how she can be as technical as you need. She has an amazing way of breaking down movements into simple drills using the right equipment, so you don't even realize you've mastered a stroke until it suddenly feels completely natural. I'm so happy with how far I’ve come and how these sessions have influenced to my fitness.

Kate is just absolutely amazing! She is not only kind, patient and knowledgeable but she is so talented. She has a quality of finding exactly what mistake I am making to outside of the water, underwater and while I trying out new skills. She has a very good and in- depth way in explaining concepts till they are baked into your muscle memory. You can tell she has years of experience and it shows every time I am training with her. As a 33 yr old, I was so scared to learn how to swim honestly embarrassed but now I am confident I will learn as long as it’s with Kate. Thank you, Kate!

I had one session with Kate at the very beginning of my swimming journey, when I was struggling with some fundamentals. She took a first-principles approach to ensure I could cover the basics, and that gave me the confidence to continue exploring on my own. Months later, I still think about that lesson. Kate explained that we want to take things that are subconscious, make them conscious—correcting them if needed—and then turn them back into muscle memory. This has been life-changing advice in my learning to swim. My session with Kate was an introduction to thinking about swimming through frameworks of understanding, and it opened up a whole new world for me. Thank you, Kate!

I can’t thank Kate enough for the incredible experience I’ve had learning to swim with her. As an adult starting with absolutely no swimming background, I was nervous and unsure of where to begin. Thanks to her patience, skill, and encouragement, I’ve gone from having no knowledge to feeling confident and comfortable in the water. She is not only highly knowledgeable and technically skilled, but also incredibly patient, attentive, and supportive. She breaks things down in a way that’s easy to understand, always adapts to your pace, and knows exactly how to challenge you without overwhelming you. Every lesson was a perfect balance of learning and fun. If you’re looking for someone who genuinely cares about your progress and makes you feel safe while helping you push your limits, I highly recommend Kate. She’s an exceptional instructor and has made a big difference in my confidence and ability in the water!

About Kate H.

I’ve been swimming from a young age for fun and for fitness. Being a swimming instructor combines my love for the water and learning. I enjoy helping swimmers of all ages to develop their swimming ability and confidence in the water. I'm certified as a Swimming Instructor, in First Aid and was previous the swim coach for Triathlon Ontario. Whether you want to cross swimming off your bucket list, overcome a fear of the water, or improve your current technique, I meet you where you are by building on your existing skills with specific feedback and drills to help you progress quickly and meet your personal swimming goals. A more technical swimming instructor I like to progressively build skills through drills and repetition that reinforce proper swimming technique and body position. Through teaching 100+ students from infant to adult, I can easy pinpoint common errors or mistakes in strokes or body position and how to fix them through targeted feedback, drills and swimming equipment.
