Hi, I'm Kristen! I have been a certified Red Cross Water Safety Instructor for 10 years and I absolutely love what I do. I possess a creative and patient teaching style which I’ve applied to the children, youth, adults, and seniors that I’ve instructed over my aquatic career. I specialize in teaching lessons to clients of all ages and abilities who are brand new to swimming, have a fear of the water, or who have physical or mental disabilities. I also work with swimmers who are experienced but are looking to brush up on their skills and improve their swimming technique. One thing that makes me a unique swimming instructor is that I am an Occupational Therapy graduate student at the University of British Columbia. I often incorporate my knowledge in body mechanics, motor control, and aquatic rehabilitation to help you achieve your goals faster! I have experience working with clients with autism, anxiety, ADHD, down syndrome, developmental coordination disorder, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, arthritis, low vision, and spinal cord injuries. My approach is gentle and I believe communication is key. My goal is to personalize your swimming lesson so that it fits your personal needs. I want to help you achieve your aquatic goals! I look forward to hearing from you, let's book some lessons. And remember... it's never too late to learn!
