We are just in our second lesson and already Makayla has exceeded my expectations! She is patient and professional, keeps my sons focus even with his abundant excitement. I'm so happy to have found these classes and such a kind teacher.

I had my very first swim lesson ever with Makayla. Water makes me nervous and she was so patient with me and incredibly knowledgeable. She really knew how to read my body language to go at my pace. I learned how to float and she got me comfortable with my face in the water in one lesson. She was also professional and kind. I will be doing the rest of my lessons with her also and would highly recommend.

Makayla was friendly and used the lesson time efficiently. At the end of the lesson, she did a good job of communicating what skills my daughter worked on. My daughter enjoyed the lesson and is looking forward to the next one.

About Makayla P.

I have been teaching and coaching swimming for 10 years. I was in swim club for a number of years before becoming a water safety instructor. I am now an elementary school teacher. I teach everything from swimming basics to high-level stroke correction. I have experience working with all age groups including young children and adults. I also have experience working with people of varied mental and physical abilities. Becoming a full time teacher has expanded on my understanding that everyone learns in different and unique ways. My teaching style is flexible and designed to adapt to meet the needs of each individual that I work with. Thanks for reading and I hope to see you at the pool!

Best Western Plus Mission City Lodge

Located in downtown Mission just off Lougheed Highway, this hidden oasis is an amazing pool for beginner and intermediate swimmers to learn in. Swimmers can warm up at the end of their lesson in our onsite hot tub and sauna. Observing parents will enjoy lounge chair seating, free towel service, wifi, and a Starbucks located just around the corner.
